Yogyakarta (Jogjakarta), Java, Indonesia

The title sounds funny, doesn't it? Well, in actual fact this is a place, in Indonesia, home of the 1000 temples of Borobudur.

As many of you might know, Borobudur is the world famous 1000 temples, which was found hidden in the rain forest and put into restoration a few times. When I first heard my Mum and Dad talk about Borobudur, the initial idea was " Oh no!!!! Temples! And I have to wake up at 4 am!!!!!!" but in the end, after going there I was reciting the history like the Wikipedia Page. Mainly, it is based on Buddhism, as it is a shrine to Buddha. There are 10 levels; The first few are for people who have desire, as it is only carvings and stories about people who always want something(us). The second level is people who are in the middle of desire and enlightenment, neither of the two. The top 2 or 3 levels are Enlightenment, and that is where you get to see the stunning sunrise or the dazzling sunset, as well as Stoopas, these mini shrines like upside down ice-cream cones. Borobudur is one of the World UNESCO sites, the second one in Yogyakarta (also Prambhanam) .

We went to Yogyakarta in February, and it was boiling hot, and I mean literally. Imagine walking more than 100 steps, and walking around the temple, that is what it would have felt like. Though, once you get to the top, you feel a light breeze and a sigh of relief. The picture below is a view of Borobudur, you can't see all 10 levels, but once you go inside you can. The one below that is the stoopas, there are about 72/73 on the top few levels.

If you want to go, it is a great educational place, and historical place to go to, and we all had lots of fun there!

Back to Beijing!

Ever Been to a place that's NOT with your Mum and Dad when you were 9? Well I have! Its Beijing!

I went there for 5 days with my class for an Educational Visit but it was actually a vacation to us. All of us were with a partner in one hotel room, and we experienced Chinese food and Lifestyle!

On the first day we visited a local Chinese school and then went to the Birds nest. We were very tired on the 2nd day because we went to the Great wall of china. The Third day was taken up with the tourist attractions(Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square) and we went to see the hutongs- which are 9 metre wide alley ways that are a very important with the local Chinese. Some of them have been burnt down. Anyway, on the 4th day we went to see the Summer palace and spent time sketching and exploring. The 5 and very last day we went to see The Temple of Heaven.

I reccomend Beijing as a place to learn for KIDS.

If you ever go there or want to go there please comment so I can tell you all more. Thanks for Reading:)!

Bon Voyage to Europe!

This summer we went to London. You may think London is rainy though when you find what is behind the Fog is a lot of things to Explore.

Here are a list of things that you could do that I did. But mainly you must have the good weather support you. We were lucky that we got it but as always a bit of rain is good.

One of the good things to see is the museums. Last year we went to the British Museum which was full of artifacts showing varieties of things. The Natural History Museum was fantastic and you can imagine yourself in the time of Jurassic!

Paris was wonderful and artistic Museums were the ideal days out. Going to the Louvre was an treasure hunt to find the Mona Lisa among the crowds! The Eiffel Tower "Tour Eiffel" or "Champ De Mars" was good experience especially looking at the huge tower in awe.

In Birmigham we saw the excitement rising there! We went to Warwick castle, saw the Trebuchet and jousting in the evening. In the Afternoon we had seen what it would have have been like if Henry the Eighth was on the Throne. We also went to Cadbury World and had a rather chocolatey day there! Our lips were red! We had also been Strawberry picking and made Jam and Strawberry ice cream out of the organic Strawberrys. But the Biggest hit was the Roald Dahl Museum-It was like you went in the world of Roald Dahl!

We had a Day trip to Longleat's Safari Park and in the Evening , ended up at Bath having a tour of the old Roman Baths and then having Dinner.

Now I hope you can enjoy these things when you go there!
