Back to Beijing #2!

Beijing again! This time there was no lush greenery, not even a leaf of green on either side of the Great Wall.  Because it was winter! But I went for a different reason other than tourism. Not for a business trip, but for the Fobissea Music Festival. Each year a different school hosts, this year it was The British School of Beijing. Mainly, the focus was on music, as on one night each school had to perform, or on the other night there would be a Chinese music concert, showing the different instruments they play to us. There was a Gala Concert(The final concert in which all the songs and preparations lead up to this big night at the end) a Gala Dinner and then a Disco. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely, taking an independent trip with our teachers. The only tourism places we went to were the Great Wall and the Forbidden city, and as always the Great Wall had a breathtaking view. Will post some pics and vids to go with this article……. The picture above is all of us dressed in our concert outfits. Looking Smart!!

The Different side of Hong Kong

Yesterday we went to a breathtaking walk in Hong Kong called Dragons Back. The walk is located behind Shek O beach, and after the walk we had a delicious snack of Chinese Noodles at the Chinese and Thai seafood restaurant.  Filmed by my lovely sister Pooja.

Johnny English- The Movie Review

Rowan Atkinson is an amazing humorous actor. He has featured in many films, sketches, shows, etc. but the latest movie Johnny English Reborn is a must see.

The First movie Johnny English was a great hit. The film is based on Johnny(Rowan Atkinson) who is a spy working for Her Majesties Secret Service. When Agent One dies, Johnny is the only agent left to do the mission. With his assisting spy Bough, they both make you go into peals of laughter.

The Second Movie, Johnny English Reborn is just the same. Everybody thinks sequels are rubbish, but this one is really funny. Johnny English's return is long awaited after Mozambique, while he is in Tibet. The people at MI-7 ask for his help to get one of three keys of a company called Vortex. This weapon is accessed by all three keys, and if one is not there then they can't get the weapon. The whole film is based around this plot, with Rowan Atkinson's added humour.

Be sure to check this movie out!!!!! :D

Sailing the Seven Seas... Or an Island

Do you know how to sail?? It is actually a great experience, and how do I know? I know because I had my first Sailing lesson yesterday, at the Hong Kong Yacht Club.

It was an After School Activity, and first they explained the boat. We had our first cap-size drill, where you have to fall in the water on purpose. Tiring, sinking a boat. When we got on again, we had to move the Rudder a lot of the time, and you have to duck a lot. The rudder is the thing you move at the back. The sail is very close to your head, so if you bang it it hurts(I know) . I actually thought that is was an adventurous experience, and even useful when your older because you know how to sail a boat. The place we went to was Middle Island, a tiny little island just off Hong Kong, even smaller than Lantau Or Cheung Chau(the other main islands). If you went to the ramp, you could see schools and schools of tiny fish if you stared really hard at it. If you can see the boat in the picture above, our boat was like that but simpler and for beginners. I recommend sailing if you ever get the chance to do it then it is great fun, even if it does mean being hit in the head by a sail.

I'm Making Cassava!!

This is a video of me making Cassava!!!

The "Muddy" Beach

As I am not very used to unlimited spaced beaches, I was quite amazed by the size of the Weston Super Mare beach when I went yesterday. The ride in the car was 2 hours, but worth for how much fun you can have. We brought our kite with us, so that was what I did for most of the time as oppose to my sister and my cousin who were always sand sculpting or playing football. In Hong Kong, the beaches are always crowded, so this was a totally different experience for me.

The weird thing about that beach was the tide was about 1 and a half of a mile from where we were sitting, which was a couple of 100 meters from the car park. However, by the time it was 6pm, the tide was very close to the car park, only moved in 20 minutes!!!Beyond a particular pole, the sand had turned into what I thought to be mud, clay/ other. If you put your feet in it, then they squelch in the mud and it is kind of like a facial. Obviously you would have to wash your feet when you get home!!!!

Indulge in Chocolate.....

When you have Cadbury chocolate every day or every so often, you may think that they had no trouble making those thousand of boxes every day. But behind that delicious milk chocolate, there is actually a lot of history, from the old Aztecs that worshiped Chocolate, through the period of the 1900 when Dairy Milk was invented till, now, where we take that little piece for granted. There are so many Cadbury Chocolate factories, but Cadbury World is located in Bournville, Birmingham, where it was originated. As a lovely place to take the kids, it has part factory and a lot of interactive stuff and the worlds biggest Cadbury store.

There are in total, 14 different areas that explain different periods, and there are a couple of attractions that have interactive zones. The first zone explains the Aztecs, and how they would trade 100 Cacao beans for a slave. For the second it show how the cacao beans were brought to Europe.Three and onwards, it is based in England, showing how John Cadbury's company developed and expanded, from manufacturing to packaging and advertising. Cadabra is the special ride that shows a cute animation of Cocoa Beans.

From then on, you can write your name in chocolate, create a green screen figure of yourself as a chocolate statue, and many other various activities. There is a giant playground near the entrance and car park, which me, my sister and my cousin loved as we love playgrounds! Finally, at the very rear end is the best part- Essence. You can actually make your own flavour of chocolate and actually eat it!! A Chocolate Day or what??????

Kung Fu Panda 2 and what I thought of it...

I love going to the cinema, and today I went with my family to see Kung Fu Panda 2. I quite liked number one, so that is why I anticipated to see the second. Overall, I think it was a good movie like the first and I liked the way he kept having those flashbacks. At the end, I think they might make a third movie because Po's dad says his son is alive so they might make Po search for his family. Maybe or maybe not because I'm just guessing.

I really want to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part2 as I am a big Harry Potter Fan. Believe it or not, I have only seen the first movie and the 6th!! But I have read the books and I absolutely love them!  Let me know what you think about Harry Potter by posting a comment below!!

Winnie the Poohs Park(Aldenham Country Park)

Ever wanted to go to the Hundred Acre wood? Well, as I am a big Winnie the Pooh fan, I went to Aldenham Country for a Picnic with my Mum, Sister, Aunt and my Cousin. It is just 20 minutes away from north London and it was bundles of fun because the weather was great!!:)
There was all sorts of things to do, as we saw the cows, fed the birds and explored the Hundred Acre wood. Unfortunately all the places we went to, we did not see Pooh and his friends. Maybe they were just out having fun!

Overall, I think it is a very good park to have a picnic in and a good park to play with your dog. Have a happy summer!!

My oon Poem

Note: Kowloon is near Hong Kong.

I went to Kowloon,
at Noon,
saw a Goon,
in a Cackoon,
who wore a pantaloon,
and looked like a groom,
so I made a Toon,
I needed to go Soon,
so I flew to the Moon.

Bieber's New Movie- Never say Never

Finally Justin got up to something! Starring in a Movie, Never Say Never is about his lifetime- How he got to the place he is now and what struggles he had to overcome. His movie also starrs his own family.

Justin's nationality is Canadian, and he quotes " I could never live in England!" I wonder why that is, does he think the lifestyle is different or he likes his home town better? "There is so many people out there trying to tell my life story but haven't quite told it correctly" His Grandma is also quite a music person- She plays the piano, guitar and she sings! So that's where his voice came from!

The Director of Never Say Never is Jon Chu- director of Step Up 3D and Step Up 2: The streets.

Can't wait to see it!

Flowers......

The Flowers Market in Hong Kong is a Lovely Place to go. But every year, in Chinese New Year, they have one held in Causeway bay. Not for those people who are claustrophobic. But there are many nice flowers and you need to buy the lovely Orchids. Not to worry if you cannot make it on one day because it is on for around 4-5 days.

My favourite plants/flowers are the furry ones.

Dragon-I Dim Sum....

Dim sum is very easy to like. Or maybe very easy to not like. I went to a place in Hong Kong called Dragon-I, for Dim Sum. It is a bar at night and a friendly family Dim Sum lunch at daytime. Mango pudding, dumplings and much more is available.

Just remember to make reservations in advance!

PS. Sushi is not Chinese, it is Japanese.

Afternoon Tea - Grand Hyatt...

If you all have seen one of my earlier posts- Afternoon Tea- Just a few scones or a couple of biscuits, it has also mentioned High tea at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Hong Kong. I would have to say, although The Peninsula was great, I think the Grand Hyatt was better. But the Scones were better at the Peninsula. If you want an English High tea, then go to the Peninsula, if you like Buffets, then go to the Grand Hyatt.

Let me know if you've been to a high tea in your comments!

Sleepovers or Slumbers?

Do you like having sleepovers with your friends? Many people do, but if your not the type who doesn't like to curl up in front of the telly, then here are some tips to the best sleepover ever!

1. If you are girly, then why not get some nail varnish and paint away. You could also do makeovers on each other, the ones that are blindfolded are the most fun.

2. if you have a backyard, and you have a tent, then why not camp outside! ghost stories are fun!

3. Ask your parents if they can take you out to dessert or dinner.

4. If you have loads of unwanted mags, you can cut out some pics and make a collage! Hama beads are also fun for you creative types.

The only thing you don't do in a sleepover is sleep!
